I don't know if many of you bought/played the game Shadowrun when it came out. It was a multi-player only experience based loosely in the shadowrun role playing universe.

I really liked the game... the character classes... the abilities and weapons... and I played a fair amount when it came out. Like most multiplayer, it was fun when it first launched and you were playing with large groups of friends. As the game aged, the dev team was disbanded so there was no support for the title and all the tweaks to weapon and class balance didn't happen... soon everyone was running around as a ninja troll... and things were out of control.

But, given the success with Battlefield 1943, it seems that a multi-player only title with some of the fun and depth that Shadowrun had, would be a welcome addition to the arcade line-up.

It seems like BF1943 proves there is a whole new market for MP only titles that rapidly get you into the game... no disc load... just power up and jump in... auto matching to friends seals the deal.

An article on Wired Game|Life made me think about all the IP that is hanging around out there that could benefit from an stripped down XBL relaunch.

I think shadowrun would have done SO MUCH better if it were better priced - as a full priced game it isn't much, but if you priced it at 20 bucks I'd probably pick it up.
that is what I am saying though.... back when Shadowrun came out... MS still had a size limit on arcade titles... things have changed a lot since then. Some of that old IP for a variety of titles could make a return as an arcade-only MP experience.
That would be genius. I'd love it.
I was part of the beta for Shadowrum and I loved this game. You have a great point here and it would be great to see it return updated at a better price.
I've never played shadowrun...but I'd say you're onto something :D
Sure the $20 dollar price tag is good and sucks alot of people in, and the game is good also, but I sure hope they do not go fully to the DLC extra map route {as in COD, & Vegas}. As stupid as that may sound, if I pay $20 for the game, then can not play with my buddies unless I have map 'X' that cost approximately $10, then map 'Z' cost $10, it kinda starts adding up and starts to defeat the purpose of XBL discounts. IMLAO. Then remember also the cheaper the game, the better the chance of running across the ahole gamer goes up by 10 fold. 8^)
@MrVista360 I like the bf1943 route where the maps unlock based on the number of people playing the games.... so as more people play more maps unlock... it makes it so that you want to tell your friends... so that more people play and work towards the bounties on the maps.

I agree though... the paid maps tend to segment the population too much. I found that to be a problem with Halo 3 the last time I jumped in... and I Couldn't play people... did Gears 2 do that as well? I know I had a problem in one of those games.
@ChangeAgent Gears 2 did do it as well...and I know experienced fragmentation issues with it. Though their main problem was that they didn't give enough choices to what maps you wanted to play and which gameplay modes. So it was even bad for people who did buy the packs.
I agree. I had a lot of fun just playing the MP demo but I was involved with other games at the time and I wasn't comfortable with the price point. I think that with the weapon tweaks and balanced classes, it could be reintroduced and be a lot of fun.
